The Surprising Link between Antibiotics and Yeast Infection

by Linda Allen

Studies done recently in medicine indicate that there's a connection between the appearance of a medical problem known as the yeast infection or candidiasis, and the intake of antibiotics. So many of my clients want to know if yeast infections really are caused by the intake of antibiotics. To answer such a question requires going much further. You should note that hidden causes of yeast infection include many complex factors and are not just the simple result of antibiotics.

Candida is present in the human body in relatively small quantities that should do no harm. Beneficial microorganisms balance out candida and make for a properly functioning immune system. Candida is a single cell bacterium. So why, if it is always present in your body, does it start to cause candidiasis? It is when candida grows out of control and turns your intestine into a breeding ground for multiplication. Candida then begins to tear the internal tissue of your gut to get into the bloodstream. It is when the normal proportions of the candida and beneficial bacteria get out of balance that the yeast infection symptoms start to show.

Although the fundamental reasons for yeast infection are complicated and multi-dimensional, certain factors can cause it to occur and these include using antibiotics. Using antibiotics over a long period of time is known to create the yeast-encouraging environment inside the intestines for the two following reasons:

1. The debilitation of the immune system and the death of beneficial microorganisms is the result of antibiotics that kill bacteria without discrimination. This means that a correctly working immune system is no longer available to protect the body.

2. Antibiotics also disturb the "pH" equilibrium of the human body. This is a technical way of describing what is happening between negatively charged ions (alkali - forming) and positively charged ions (acid-forming). The more acidic the "pH" environment becomes, the more danger there is of candida overgrowth.

However, we often consume of antibiotics without knowing it, and not just because of medical prescriptions. Non-organic dairy products have antibiotics added to them along with other chemical substances. This means that you should avoid or decrease whenever possible the use of such products: for example replace dairy products with healthier milk, preferably organic products from sheep and goats.

In addition to the outer symptoms, a solution exists to eradicate all kinds of infections caused by candida. Did you know that there is a holistic treatment which is 100 percent natural and which can treat the internal courses of the yeast infection?
